Easily Generate and Verify MD5 Hashes
In the world today, a lot of business takes place over the internet with software downloads being very common. When downloading from the internet, its very important to verify the accuracy of the download, and this is usually done with "MD5 hashes".
A MD5 hash is a way of assigning a unique string to a file which is guaranteed to remain as long as the integrity of the downloaded file remains constant. If a file is corrupted during a download, its MD5 has changes. You can easily therefore check the integrity of a file by comparing the publishers value of the MD5 hash with the downloaded hash.
MD5.app allows MD5 hashes to be easily generated for downloaded files by simply dragging and dropping the file onto the application. The hash is shown on the screen to allow easy visual validation helping to make corrupt downloads a thing of the past.
MD5.app requires OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard or above.
